Do you have atrial Fibrillation?
Atlanta Cardiology Consultants, PC’ Clinical Research Department seeks Male or Female subjects age 21 years or older with Atrial Fibrillation.
Patients must have at least one of the following Cardiovascular Risk Factors for research study:
- 70 years of age or older
- High Blood Pressure (defined as >135/85)
- Diabetes
- Prior Stroke
- Transient Ischemic Attack (short episode of stroke-like symptoms)
- Systemic Embolism
- Reduced Heart Function
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the effect of FDA approved MULTAQ 400mg BID vs. Placebo (standard therapy) in restoring or maintaining normal atrial function by slowing progression of unwanted left atrial enlargement following 12 months of treatment. This study involves echocardiograms, blood draws, 12 lead EKG, taking MULTAQ vs placebo (inactive pill), Clinical Exams and Quality of Life Questionnaires. A total of 7 visits over 12 months are required.
